Volunteer: Picking up garbages from the ocean floor (2018/04/01~06/30)

For two months, I participated in NGO's volunteer work in Lisbon.
I scuba dive every day to clean the ocean floor. I got to see with my own eyes how plastics and other manmade products remain in the environment and how difficult to clean once enters the ocean. I picked up fishing nets, abandoned phones, tires and many other lavish from the ocean.

Making comprehensive presentation for Nepalese waste management issue

In order to increase awareness and to understand the significance, I made a PowerPoint presentation.
I put much effort to assemble extensively researched materials and make use of the first-hand experience. The presentation covers the health impact of mismanaged waste, the history of waste management in Nepal and possible solutions to the issue. The length is about 70 slides filled with contents.

Working as a researcher at renewable energy company

While I was at the exchange program to Japan (GoGlobal), I worked in a renewable energy company (developer) for five months as an intern.
I was a researcher at the division of the project initiation team. I read a substantial amount of articles both in English and in Japanese related to renewable energy: global trend, technological breakthrough, local content and price of electricity regarding renewable energy.

Working to improve Tarkeswore’s waste management (2019/08/01-08/31)

Nepal does not have a proper waste management system in place. As a consequence, it is leading to water contamination, land degradation, and severe health issues. In August 2019, I went to Kathmandu to grasp the reality and see where I can support to improve for one month. Specifically, I worked with local NPO (Volunteer Initiative Nepal) along with an expert from Klarwin (European water purification company/consultancy). This is a report of what I have learned and what I have seen.
